To save money on any furniture you need to shop when you have a good idea of what you need and you have money that you can afford to spend. These two tips alone will help you when you are looking and keep you from rushing from store to store and in some cases end up buying a piece of furniture just because it is cheap or just because you are tired and want to go home.
Tips and Ideas
But there are also other tips to help you save:
1. Go to second hand stores or resale shops.
The furniture is in most cases brand new but very low in price. They often come from families that are wealthy and redo their homes or offices several times a year.
You will find a lot of neutral colors in these stores but occasionally you will find something really extraordinary and the price will be much cheaper than in a furniture store.
2. Once each year, furniture stores will have warehouse sales to make room for the new merchandise that they have coming in during April and October.
So, 2 or 3 months before is when you can get great prices at warehouse sales. They also may advertise “going out of business” warehouse sales. They are not actually going out of business- they are just leaving that warehouse and the sale prices are great.
3. Shop on the internet as there are some really great furniture prices on the net.
If you have a coupon that will make the price even cheaper and when they are having a sale most of these web stores will pay for shipping. Stores online don’t have the overhead that a real world store has – such as electricity and rent so their prices are much better.
You could find a piece of furniture that you really like, take a picture of it and then get on the internet and find that same piece of furniture for a lot cheaper.
4. Colors that are neutral cost less.
For example a red colored couch is a color that few people are looking for. But the companies make a lot of black, white, brown and gray. Now this does not mean you should not use interesting colors, it just means that there is more furniture in the neutral color so they are cheaper.
5. Re-do – any furniture you already have can be recovered and painted a different color and look brand new.
You can re-cover your sofa also and the pattern and colors can be just what you want. You can match all the fabrics in your living room and have a complete set of new furniture and you only have to pay for the fabric and some paint.
The money that you save can be used to found matching lamps or some new piece of furniture to revolve your remodeling around such as a new coffee table or new light fixture.
There are many other ways to get cheaper furniture but these are the best ways to start with. Just remember to have ideas and a budget before you start out shopping. Don’t hurry when shopping either since you could buy something that in a few months you will end up hating.
